Arab Gulf News_Translations: A recent study revealed that eating avocado daily is associated with better sleep quality, a better diet, and better cholesterol levels, which positively reflects on the body's health. The study, published in the "Journal of the American Heart Association," lasted for 6 months and included 969 adults in the United States who suffered from abdominal obesity and consumed no more than one or two avocados per month. The "Verywell Health" website mentioned that the researchers divided the participants into two groups; one group ate one avocado daily, while the other group adhered to two or fewer avocados per month, with the aim of studying the effect of this fruit on the heart. The researchers found that daily avocado servings did not promote overall heart health, but they improved sleep duration and quality, diet, and blood fat levels. Avocado and Sleep Quality John Seet, a physician and spokesperson for the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, said that avocado is not a sleeping pill, but it contains nutrients that stimulate sleep, such as magnesium, potassium, and healthy fats. He added that eating regular, balanced meals containing a combination of fats, complex carbohydrates, and protein helps support the biological clock and the circadian rhythm. Heart health Previous studies have shown that avocado reduces the risk of heart disease because it is a good source of healthy monounsaturated fats. Each avocado contains 10 grams of fiber, which helps lower cholesterol levels and protects against heart disease. Jamie Mock, a nutritionist in Los Angeles, says: "A person will not benefit from eating an avocado a day if they are allergic to avocados, or follow a low-potassium diet, or a very low-fat diet." Mock added that other foods may offer similar health benefits, especially for sleep, such as walnuts, tart cherry juice, fatty fish such as salmon, and herbal tea.
