Arab Sea - Follow-ups: A recent scientific study has found a relationship between stomach rhythms and mental health, as a result of the synchronization of the brain's electrical activity with natural waves emitted by the stomach in individuals. The study, conducted by researchers at Aarhus University in the United States, confirmed that there is a strong correlation between the synchronization of brain activity with the slow waves of the stomach that occur every 20 seconds, regardless of food intake, and psychological distress, after analyzing data from more than 240 people. It explained that increased synchronization of electrical activity between the brain and the natural waves of the stomach is associated with higher levels of anxiety, depression, and stress in humans, noting that scientists relied on functional magnetic resonance imaging and electrogastrography to reach this conclusion, and the matching of brain activity with stomach rhythms. Lead author of the study, Leah Paniles, said that there is a strong link between the stomach and the brain in people suffering from psychological stress, and if the synchronization of stomach and brain activity proves to be a constant indicator of psychological state, this may open new horizons for diagnosis and treatment, noting that this study may help in designing treatments that take into account the interaction of the patient's body and brain, and not just their subjective feelings.
