A recent scientific study reveals the dangers of rock masses in Aqaba Aden and proposes scientific solutions.
Arabian Sea - Exclusive
Amidst the escalating rockslides that pose a direct threat to the lives of citizens and infrastructure in the Aqaba Aden area, the Geological Survey and Mineral Resources Authority has issued a recent scientific study highlighting the most landslide and rockfall-prone sites in the region. This study is part of the Authority's ongoing efforts to monitor and assess geological hazards, and was completed in record time to contribute urgently to the protection of lives and property, especially in light of the increasing incidents related to mountain slope collapses. In preparing the study, the working team relied on accurate maps and in-depth geological and geotechnical analysis, which made it possible to diagnose the areas most at risk and identify the natural and human causes affecting the stability of rock masses. The study included a package of practical and implementable solutions that would make a real difference in reducing risks, supporting infrastructure development efforts, and enhancing public safety standards in the interim capital, Aden. The Authority called on all relevant authorities to review the findings and recommendations of the study and treat them seriously as a scientific reference that contributes to reducing potential losses resulting from collapses.
