Yemen: Inauguration of Al-Ittihad Sports Stadium in Socotra

The Governor of Socotra, Raafat Al-Thaqali, inaugurated the Al-Ittihad Sports Stadium in Qadheb city, with the participation of officials from the government and the Chinese Embassy, funded by the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Works. The Governor affirmed that the project represents an important addition to the sports infrastructure in Socotra and opens the way for young people to practice sports activities and develop their skills. Sports officials in the governorate also confirmed that the stadium will constitute a qualitative leap in the local sports scene. The opening included heritage performances and an exhibition match between the Dalma and Al-Jumhoor clubs, which ended with Dalma winning 2-1. In its first phase, the project includes a stadium with Olympic standards, stands that can accommodate 1,500 spectators, and integrated service facilities, while the second phase includes training and educational facilities, a running track, and multiple playgrounds, with the possibility of future expansion to accommodate 10,000 spectators.
