The national team thrashes Bhutan 7-1 in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.

The national football team achieved a sweeping victory over its Bhutanese counterpart with a score of 7-1, on Monday, at the Ali Al-Salem Al-Sabah Stadium in Kuwait, as part of the fifth round matches of the final round qualifying for the 2027 Asian Cup in Saudi Arabia. Our team's goals were scored by Haroun Al-Zubaidi in the 16th minute, Nasser Mohammedou with a brilliant quadruple in the 21st, 58th, 85th, and 89th minutes, and Adel Abbas in the 75th minute, while Omar Golan added a goal in the 82nd minute. Bhutan's only goal was scored by Kinga Wangchuk in the 83rd minute. With this victory, the national team raised its score to 11 points in second place in Group B, behind Lebanon, the leader with 13 points, while Brunei is in third place with 3 points, and Bhutan is at the bottom of the standings with one point. The national team will face a crucial match against Lebanon in March 2026, where it needs to win to guarantee a qualifying ticket to the Asian Cup, while a draw or victory is enough for Lebanon to secure qualification early.
