Arabian Sea - Yemen - Follow-ups: The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) confirmed that an initial count of 180 families have been affected by the heavy rains that struck the governorates of Hajjah and Al Hudaydah, western Yemen. The UNHCR said in a tweet on its "X" platform account on Sunday: "Initial assessments reveal that 180 families have been affected by the heavy rains that fell on Saturday in the governorates of Hajjah and Al Hudaydah." It added that the UNHCR's field teams are present in the affected areas of the two governorates, working to provide urgent assistance to the affected families. The UNHCR clarified that it supported the distribution of shelter needs to 901 displaced families affected by the rains and floods that recently occurred in Ibb Governorate. It pointed out that the local partner has begun distributing tarpaulins to affected families in camps in the Al-Dhihar and Al-Mashnah districts, "and the response process is still ongoing and will be completed in the coming days." The UN agency confirmed that this urgent intervention comes within the framework of the humanitarian response to the needs of the displaced people whose fragile tents were destroyed by the heavy rains, in order to "improve emergency shelter conditions, enhance their protection, and ensure their dignity."
