Arab Sea - Yemen - Follow-ups: Sheikh Sultan al-Barakani, Speaker of Parliament and Assistant Secretary-General of the General People's Congress (GPC), affirmed that the "Yemeni soil" party will not die, calling for unifying ranks to confront what he described as the "Houthi priestly project," during the celebration of the 43rd anniversary of the party's founding in Taiz. This came in a speech delivered by al-Barakani under the slogan "Together to strengthen national unity to end the coup of the Houthi priestly militias and restore state institutions," in the presence of party and military leaders and social figures. Al-Barakani pointed out that "the General People's Congress was born from the womb of the Yemeni land and will not be extinguished," considering that the anniversary of the founding "is not just a date we celebrate, but a bright dawn that emerged from the wall of darkness." He added that the party was "the captain of a ship that is difficult to sink, and a comprehensive destination in a time of wandering," recalling the party's historical achievements, most notably the achievement of Yemeni unity in 1990. Al-Barakani addressed a call to the leaders of the Congress at home and abroad, saying: "Let us not drown in the shadows of emptiness, for organizational unity is our fixed star." He stressed that "division is a free gift to the Houthi militias," calling for overcoming differences and "giving priority to the interest of the nation over whims." Al-Barakani praised the role of Taiz Governorate as an "impregnable fortress of the Republic," considering it "the one whose radiance emanated from the darkness of oppression, and swore to be a fortress for the Republic and unity." He mentioned its historical contribution to the September 26 and October 14 revolutions. Al-Barakani conveyed the greetings of the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad al-Alimi, to the attendees, stressing that "His Excellency is happy with this Congress gathering in Taiz," considering that "the event honors all those affiliated with the Congress." Al-Barakani concluded his speech with a message of optimism: "Know that the nation has a date with victory that it will not break, as long as the Congress is a pulse in its chest, and as long as all national forces are united in the face of injustice." It is noteworthy that this gathering comes in light of the ongoing war that Yemen has been witnessing for years, and the increasing talk about the need to unite the republican ranks to confront the Houthi project.
