Egypt: Death toll rises at "Abu Talat Beach"

Arab Sea - Follow-ups: The number of victims of the drowning incident in the Abu Talat beach area in Alexandria Governorate has risen to 28 injured, according to Egyptian press reports in the early hours of Sunday morning. The tragic accident, which occurred on Saturday morning, resulted in the drowning of 6 students from an aviation hospitality academy, while the initial number of injured reached 24. A statement from the Alexandria Governorate indicated that the accident occurred despite the raising of the red flag, which prohibits swimming due to high waves, confirming that a decision has been circulated to ban access to the sea water on all beaches in the western sector of the governorate. The governorate appealed to residents and vacationers to fully comply with safety instructions on the beaches, especially during group trips, in order to preserve lives and avoid such painful accidents. On Saturday evening, the Governor of Alexandria, Ahmed Khaled, visited the injured in the hospital to check on their health and ensure that they receive the necessary medical care. The Governor renewed his warnings against going to the beach in light of the raising of red flags, which indicate the danger of swimming and high waves, stressing that compliance with the instructions issued by the concerned authorities is the first guarantee for preserving lives.
