Arabian Sea - Follow-ups: The British newspaper The Mirror published on Saturday a letter signed by 12 survivors of the Nazi Holocaust, calling on Israel to stop starving civilians in the Gaza Strip, after the United Nations officially announced that the Strip had entered the stage of famine. The signatories said: "We were Holocaust survivors, and we cannot remain silent while hunger threatens the lives of children in Gaza," stressing that every human life, "Jewish or Palestinian," has equal value, and that self-defense "should not turn into a slow death for children from hunger." The letter added: "We condemn (Hamas) and demand that it release the hostages and stop using civilians as human shields, but at the same time we demand that all parties allow the immediate entry of food, medicine and fuel, and prevent a wider humanitarian catastrophe." Their statement included an urgent appeal to donor governments to fully fund the humanitarian response and ensure that aid reaches civilians "in the name of our shared humanity."
