Arab Sea - Yemen - Follow-ups: A Yemeni citizen has demanded financial compensation after his factory was completely burned down during tribal clashes that erupted in Marib Governorate (eastern Yemen), highlighting the repercussions of local armed conflicts on civilians and the economic sector. Citizen Shaker Al-Ashari appealed to the concerned authorities to demand compensation of 20 million Saudi riyals (equivalent to about 5.3 million US dollars), after his factory, specializing in the manufacture of plastics and insulators, known as "Al-Jودة Factory," was engulfed in flames during armed clashes between the Al Faji' and Al Hatik tribes in Al-Wadi Directorate. Local sources reported that the clashes renewed on Tuesday evening, despite a tribal mediation that had succeeded in stopping the fighting days ago. The clashes resulted in extensive material damage to civilian property, including the factory, which provided job opportunities for dozens of workers. For his part, Al-Ashari said in a press statement: "I lost years of investment in hours... The factory was completely burned down and nothing remained." He added that the requested compensation includes the value of equipment, raw materials, and structural damage, in addition to losses resulting from the cessation of production. The toll of human losses remains officially unclear, while field reports indicate that at least two people have been killed and others injured since the beginning of the latest round of clashes. It is reported that the conflict between the two tribes erupted against the backdrop of tribal revenge and a dispute over land, and the sporadic clashes caused damage to several civilian facilities and camps for the displaced. By Wednesday morning, a tribal mediation managed to achieve a ceasefire between the two parties, while efforts continue to establish a comprehensive reconciliation to prevent the recurrence of violence. The incident reflects the continued impact of tribal conflicts on the stability of the governorate, which hosts hundreds of thousands of displaced people and is one of the most important economic centers under the control of the internationally recognized government. Despite the calm on the main battle fronts with the Houthi militia, Marib Governorate has witnessed the continuation of internal tribal tensions, which poses an additional challenge to security and stability and hinders development efforts and the absorption of the displaced.
