Arabian Sea - Yemen - Follow-ups: The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) announced the completion of a project to provide clean water to thousands of people in Al-Shimaitain District, Taiz Governorate, southwestern Yemen. In a tweet on its "X" platform account on Thursday, the ICRC said that, in cooperation with the Yemeni Red Crescent (YRC), it had rehabilitated the water network and installed a pump and a 100-kilowatt solar power system in the Al-Hadarem area of Al-Shimaitain District, south of Taiz Governorate. It added that the project would provide clean and sustainable water to 3,000 residents of the area. The ICRC affirmed that the ongoing conflict, in addition to climate change, has exacerbated the water crisis in Yemen, and according to UN reports, more than 15 million people need assistance to meet their critical needs for clean water and basic sanitation during 2025.
