Arabian Sea - Yemen - Reports: The Republic of Yemen won first place globally in the King Abdulaziz International Competition for Memorization, Recitation, and Interpretation of the Holy Quran in its 45th session, which was held in the Holy Mosque in Mecca from August 12 to 20, 2025, with the participation of more than one hundred Islamic countries. The Yemeni memorizer, Muhammad Dammaj Muhammad, won first place in the third branch of the competition, while Yemen also participated with the contestant Ibrahim Maher Ghazi Bakhariba in the second branch. Commenting on this achievement, the Minister of Endowments and Guidance, Dr. Muhammad bin Ayda Shabiba, said that "Yemen's winning first place in the holiest places on earth carries great significance for the giving of Yemen and its people in serving the Book of God," noting that this coronation reflects the ministry's efforts to consolidate the authentic Yemeni identity derived from the Holy Quran, and to confront sectarian projects that try to obliterate Yemen's faith identity. The Minister affirmed that his ministry is continuing to prepare a conscious Quranic generation that combines perfect memorization, deep understanding, and working with the ethics of the Holy Quran, while at the same time appreciating the generous care given by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance, to this prestigious global competition, which is one of the most prominent Quranic platforms in the Islamic world.
