Arab Sea - Follow-ups: Lebanese President Joseph Aoun affirmed on Thursday his country's commitment to implementing the decision to confine weapons to the state, in a way that guarantees the interest of all Lebanese. During his meeting with the Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ambassador Hossam Zaki, Aoun said: "We affirm Lebanon's commitment to implementing the decision to confine weapons in a way that preserves the interest of all Lebanese." President Aoun stressed the need for Israel to adhere to its obligations to secure the necessary conditions for completing the extension of state sovereignty over its entire borders. He also affirmed during his meeting with the British Ambassador to Lebanon, Hamish Cowell, that his country adheres to the presence of the United Nations peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon (UNIFIL) and attaches great importance to Britain's support in extending its mission, until the full implementation of Resolution 1701 and the deployment of the Lebanese army on the entire border.
