Arabian Sea - Yemen - Follow-ups; Yemenia Airways announced that travel tickets will be sold in the national currency starting tomorrow, Wednesday, August 20, in implementation of a government decision stipulating the cessation of dealing in foreign currencies in a number of commercial and service transactions within Yemen. An official source in the company explained, in a statement reported by the official news agency Saba, that the step comes in compliance with Cabinet Resolution No. (13) for the year 2025, which prohibits the use of foreign currencies as a substitute for the Yemeni riyal in transactions that do not require external payment, such as tuition fees, medical treatment, rents, and travel tickets. The source pointed out that the decision was taken based on the directives of the Prime Minister, the Minister of Transport, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yemenia Airways, Captain Nasser Mahmoud, stressing that the company is keen to alleviate the living burdens of citizens, especially with the relative improvement in the exchange rate of the local currency.
