Arabian Sea - Yemen - Special: The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate has expressed its deep concern regarding the developments related to the arrest of journalist Hamoud Hazza', considering that the justifications provided by a security source regarding his affiliation with the army without clarifying the charges against him, raise fears that it is an attempt to single him out and undermine his right to freedom of expression. The syndicate said in a statement that it is following the situation of a number of journalists who lost their jobs due to the war and were displaced from areas controlled by the Houthi group to areas of the legitimate government, where their circumstances were exploited by including them in army rosters and granting them military numbers or honorary ranks in exchange for their media work, stressing its rejection of the use of these military measures to restrict journalists or punish them for their opinions. The syndicate called on the authorities to reverse the measures taken against Hazza', immediately release him, and open a transparent investigation into the violations and abuses that accompanied his arrest.
