Yemen: 33 dead and 138 injured in traffic accidents in half a month

Arabian Sea - Yemen - Follow-ups: Road accidents claimed the lives of 33 people during the first half of August in the liberated areas and governorates, while 138 others were injured, 76 of whom were described as seriously injured, and the material losses amounted to 36 million riyals. A traffic statistic indicated that the same period witnessed 163 traffic accidents in all liberated areas and governorates, distributed among 97 vehicle collision accidents, 45 pedestrian accidents, 13 vehicle rollover accidents, 5 car collision accidents with a fixed object, and 3 fall from a car accidents. The causes of the recorded traffic accidents were attributed to the violation of vehicle drivers and road users of traffic rules, laws, etiquette, and signals, by exceeding the speed and standard load, committing incorrect and dangerous overtaking, negligence, and being distracted by things other than the road. During the first half of this month, the traffic police branches in the liberated governorates also seized 3,332 traffic violations of traffic rules, laws, regulations, and signals, obstructing the flow of traffic, and violating traffic safety and its conditions, all of which constitute real risks to road users and rise to the commission of potential traffic accidents.
