Arab Gulf - Reports: Syrian President Ahmed al-Shar'a affirmed yesterday evening, Saturday, the unity of Syrian territory, ruling out the scenario of dividing the country, saying that its factors are "unavailable and almost impossible in Syria." Al-Shar'a said in a dialogue session in the presence of a number of ministers, with academics, politicians, and members of professional syndicates and dignitaries in Idlib Governorate: "Whoever demands partition in Syria has political ignorance, and is a dreamer. Many times, dreamy ideas lead their owners to suicide." He added: "I do not see that Syria is at risk of partition. There are desires among some people for the process of dividing Syria, trying to create local and internal cantons, but logically, politically, ethnically, and intellectually, this is impossible to happen." Al-Shar'a warned against "negative competition and greed behind positions, political division, and the search for roles," stressing that this affects the structure of society, especially as we are in a stage of building the state, which has different circumstances," according to him. He pointed out that "some parties seeking support from regional powers, such as Israel, is a very difficult thing. The southern region has a high population density, and any enemy who wants to enter it will have to put a policeman at the door of every house, and this is difficult in reality." Regarding the events that Sweida Governorate recently witnessed, Al-Shar'a stressed that the state is committed to holding accountable those who committed violations in Sweida.
