Arab Sea - Special: An unidentified gunman, with unknown affiliation, closed the building of the Cleaning and Improvement Fund in Taiz Governorate today, Sunday, and threatened the fund's director, Iftihan Al-Mashhari, and a number of employees, in an incident that is the second in a short period. According to a source in the fund, an armed man forcibly closed the building, threatening employees because of their refusal to pay sums of money he demands as collection. The source indicated that the director of the fund submitted a report of assault and threat to the director of security, demanding the speedy arrest of the accused, and that cleaning work will be suspended within 24 hours if no action is taken against the perpetrator and he is brought to justice. The source explained that the first attack carried out by the gunman was by storming the fund's building and shooting at employees, and at that time a file was opened in the Public Funds Prosecution, but the security services have not arrested him yet. The source confirmed that the attack on a government facility and its employees and the threat to liquidate a director-general is a dangerous escalation, and that leniency with its perpetrator is a crime punishable by law. The source expressed his surprise at the gunman's continued impunity, despite the recurrence of incidents, pointing out that his father works as an officer in the governorate's police and one of his relatives is the director of a police station in the city.
