Arabian Sea – Yemen – Follow-ups: The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate has expressed its condemnation of a security force, accompanied by female police officers, storming the house of journalist Hamoud Hazza in Marib Governorate, arresting him, searching his house, and confiscating some of his belongings. The syndicate said that journalist Hazza wrote on his Facebook page immediately after the incident, documenting the raid, and confirming that he was subjected to a flagrant violation as an unarmed civilian, demanding respect for the law in dealing with journalists and opinion leaders. The syndicate called on the Governor of Marib to intervene urgently and direct the security authorities to reveal the whereabouts of their colleague Hazza and to release him quickly, stressing its complete rejection of the policy of hostile treatment of journalists, and held the security authorities fully responsible for what happened. The syndicate pointed out that Hazza had previously informed them that he had been subjected to repeated threats and incitement on social media because of his opinions and what he writes on his page. It also expressed its disapproval of the involvement of some who present themselves as journalists and activists in campaigns of incitement against journalists, and supporting measures that suppress freedom of expression. The syndicate reiterated its demand to provide a safe environment for journalistic work, respect freedom of opinion and expression, and stop using force as a means of dealing with people with different positions and opinions.
