Arab Sea - Special: An expanded meeting held under the leadership of the Governor of Lahj Governorate, Major General Ahmed Turki, yesterday discussed the situation of the government tomato paste factory in Al-Fayoush city, Tuban District, which suffered severe damage during the previous years of the war. At the meeting, which was attended by the Deputy Governor, Abd al-Fattah Haitham, the Governor reviewed a technical and administrative report on the factory's condition, the damage to its production and service facilities, in addition to the corrosion and damage to its equipment as a result of the long period of work stoppage. He affirmed that the factory was one of the most prominent economic establishments in the governorate, and an important source for employing local labor and supporting food security, before the war of the terrorist Houthi militias caused its disruption and the deterioration of its basic infrastructure. He stressed that the local authority leadership attaches great importance to the file of rehabilitating and operating the stalled government production facilities, foremost of which is the tomato paste factory, due to its role in enhancing self-sufficiency and reducing dependence on imports. He pointed out that the governorate is in the process of paving the way for opening the door to investment for the national private sector, according to transparent mechanisms and partnership contracts that guarantee the protection of the rights of the state and the investor, and encourage national capital to enter this vital field. The Governor noted that the governorate's leadership is committed to providing all administrative and technical facilities to attract serious investors, while giving priority to local capital, considering it a fundamental lever for the economic recovery process in the governorate. The meeting approved opening a public auction for the sale of scrap metal belonging to the dilapidated tomato paste factory, provided that those applying for the auction are enabled to inspect the materials offered for sale inside the factory during the period from August 14 to August 25, 2025, in preparation for completing the procedures for selling the scrap metal, in accordance with the regulations governing this.
