The Nutrition Cluster in Yemen said that about 1.9 million children under the age of five and pregnant or lactating women will suffer from acute malnutrition across the country during 2025. The cluster appealed for assistance to help maintain the capacity of humanitarian partners to deliver essential supplies, cover operating costs, support health workers, and ensure the continuation of primary nutrition services, healthcare, and immunization in more than 3,200 health facilities and 75 high-priority areas suffering from severe acute malnutrition. It pointed out that the continued sharp decline in funding for humanitarian operations directly threatens the health system's ability to conduct examinations, diagnoses, referrals, and treatment, which endangers the lives of thousands of children and women and increases the likelihood of preventable deaths. The Nutrition Cluster noted that therapeutic feeding centers are among the sectors most affected by the lack of funding, pointing out that as of last May, services had been suspended or reduced in 91 districts in 16 governorates, while 22 therapeutic centers had been handed over to local authorities without providing the necessary operational support or incentives for medical personnel. It also pointed out that 385 outpatient therapeutic programs in 67 districts, in addition to 2,212 supplementary feeding programs in 201 districts in 18 governorates, are facing closure or suspension due to funding shortages.
