Arab Gulf - Yemen - Special: The office of the Ministry of Industry and Trade in Al-Mualla District carried out a field campaign yesterday, Saturday, targeting a number of violating shops and bakeries for not adhering to selling at the reduced price and the official weight of bread, in the presence of the Director General of the Directorate, Abdul Rahim Jawi. The campaign focused on controlling shops and bakeries that sell at high prices despite the noticeable improvement in the value of the riyal, and resulted in the closure of a number of establishments. The campaign was attended by the Director of the Industry and Trade Office in the Directorate, Ahmed Al-Qati, who explained that the measures included shops and bakeries that did not adhere to the set prices or specified weights, stressing that the goal is to impose control and obligate everyone to reduce prices in line with the improvement in the exchange rate of the Yemeni riyal against foreign currencies, and to control the weights of bread. For his part, the Director General of Al-Mansoura, Ahmed Ali Al-Dawoodi, stressed the keenness of the local authority leadership to continue the control campaign and control the prices of foodstuffs in all shops, in light of the improvement of the local currency. These statements came during the continuation of the Industry and Trade Office in Al-Mansoura, led by its director Faisal Muhammad bin Muhammad, in implementing the control campaign in wholesale and retail markets, which resulted on its ninth day in the closure of two large consumer centers. Al-Dawoodi pointed out that the campaign comes in implementation of the directives of the Minister of State, Governor of the capital Aden, Ahmed Hamed Lamlas, to ensure the stability of commodity prices after the decline of foreign currencies, criticizing the exploitation by some merchants of periods of high exchange rates by raising prices excessively. He called on shop owners to adhere to the price bulletins issued by the supplying companies and to display them clearly, stressing that strict measures will be taken against violators, especially in basic commodities related to the lives of citizens. The Director of the Industry and Trade Office in Al-Mansoura explained that the campaign aims to verify the extent to which merchants are committed to reducing prices and displaying price lists on shop windows, calling on citizens to report any violations through the Directorate's operations room on the number (323397 - 02).
