Arab Sea - Yemen "Aden" - Special: A citizen born in Aden was subjected to what was described as racist treatment inside the Khor Maksar police station while trying to report the loss of his passport. The citizen, Mamoun Al-Shaibani, who belongs to the Taiz Governorate, explained that he went to the police station to register a report of the loss of his passport, and was met by the director. When he was asked about his name, the employee replied: "Go to Taiz." When the citizen clarified that he was born in Aden, the director, Ahmed Al-Shaeri, replied: "Even if you were born in Al-Dhalea... you think you were born in Denmark," adding another comment: "We are still suffering from Abdul Fattah Ismail." The citizen confirmed that these situations caused his transaction to be stopped and deprived him of his legal right to report, in a video recording, which he published on his Facebook page. Stressing that what happened represents discriminatory behavior that contradicts the principles of the constitution and laws that guarantee equality among citizens. This incident has received great interaction on social media platforms. Commenting on this, prominent journalist Khaled Salman said: "This advocate for regional cantons, the director of the Khor Maksar police, offended Al-Dhalea when he repeated in Mamoun's face, "Even if you were born in Al-Dhalea, it won't happen," as if this resistant city, the stronghold of liberation and the protector of Aden's gate, is a Nazi race above society. What is reassuring is that Al-Dhalea condemned, Aden condemned, and all of Yemen condemned this barbaric behavior." He added: "The remaining complementary step: arrest, dismissal, trial. From the womb of accumulated suffering, a new awareness is being created." Activists warn of the danger of the spread of racist or regional practices, due to their negative impact on the social fabric, calling on the concerned authorities to investigate the incident and take the necessary measures to ensure that it does not happen again.
