Arabian Sea - Yemen - Special: Security services in the temporary capital, Aden, announced the seizure of a shipment of advanced weapons and military equipment en route to the Houthi militia, as part of a qualitative operation carried out in early August, based on accurate intelligence information. Security sources explained that the shipment, which was seized inside containers on board a commercial ship coming from China, included drones, remote control devices, and advanced military technologies, believed to be intended to enhance the Houthi group's combat capabilities. The seizure of the shipment came after the ship's course was changed from the port of Hodeidah to Aden due to aerial bombardment, which raised suspicions and prompted the security services, in coordination with the Public Prosecution and the Counter-Terrorism Unit, to seize the items and open a comprehensive investigation. The Counter-Terrorism Unit confirmed that the operation reflected the high level of readiness and close coordination between the security agencies in the port of Aden, noting that a detailed report will be prepared and submitted to the UN Sanctions Committee, including evidence of the Houthis' involvement in smuggling weapons and using them to threaten regional and international security. This operation comes after a series of recent seizures, including a huge Iranian weapons shipment near Hanish Island, and another inside a civilian vehicle at the Al-Alam crossing in Aden, in addition to a UN report that revealed a secret smuggling network linking the Houthis to the "Al-Qaeda" and "Al-Shabaab" organizations in Somalia, for the exchange of weapons and training. Observers believe that these developments reflect the widening circle of cross-border threats, and confirm the need for a more firm international stance to stop supporting armed and terrorist groups in Yemen and the region.
