Guidelines for Restarting Oil Fields in Shabwa

Shabwa ((Arabian Sea)) Special: As part of its ongoing efforts to advance development and enhance the economic resources of the governorate, the Governor of Shabwa Governorate, Head of the Local Council, Sheikh Awadh Muhammad Ibn al-Wazir, made an inspection visit today, Monday, to the Al-Aqla oil sector in Arma'a district, where he reviewed the progress of work and the ongoing preparations to restart the historic oil field. During the visit, the Governor listened to a detailed explanation from the ministerial supervisor for restructuring the sector, Engineer Saleh Baawda, about the efforts made to restore the sector's technical readiness and maintain its modern engineering components, stressing the success in opening the well plugs in one of the facilities, warning of the danger of wells stopping for long periods, and stressing the continuation of work to fully restore operation. The Governor called on the Presidential Council and the government to expedite the resumption of operations at the field and make the most of Shabwa's oil wealth, which would contribute to supporting the state treasury with hard currency and help meet current economic challenges, in addition to strengthening the government's ability to fulfill its obligations to citizens. The Governor expressed his determination to exert all efforts to provide a favorable environment for the resumption of operations in the oil sector and all other economic sectors, in cooperation with the competent authorities, as part of the governorate's endeavor to revitalize the national economy and achieve new achievements at the economic and service levels. In the same context, the Governor held an expanded meeting with the concerned ministerial team, technicians, and engineers working in the sector, where he praised their high efficiency and professional performance despite the difficult conditions the country is going through, stressing the importance of preserving the sector's facilities and contributing to its return to work as soon as possible. He also expressed his great appreciation for their efforts in operating the central power unit that relies on gas extracted from the wells, directing the need to complete the electricity projects for the eastern districts supplied from the oil field. For his part, Engineer Saleh Baawda expressed his pride in the Governor's visit, stressing that his kind directives increased the morale of the team and facilitated their task of rehabilitating the sector and resuming production, expressing his hope to restart the sector and restore its vital role in supporting the national economy as soon as possible. This step comes within the framework of Shabwa Governorate's endeavor to enhance the investment of its oil wealth, achieve sustainable development, and activate all economic sectors to serve the people of the governorate and the country in general.
