Special/Abyan Local sources in Lawdar district, Abyan Governorate, said that efforts to open the Thera pass road are still ongoing, despite the challenges facing local and community teams in reaching the targeted sites. The sources stated that a number of social figures from the area were present on Sunday morning at the bottom of the pass, as part of following up on the latest developments in reopening the vital road that connects Abyan and Al-Bayda. They explained that the director of the Public Works Office arrived in the front commander's car to go up to the pass in order to inspect it in the field, but the rest of those present were not allowed to go up, which aroused the discontent of a number of participants in the descent. The participating parties confirmed that despite the obstacles, they are continuing their serious efforts and continuous communication to open the road, which is an important lifeline for the residents of the mountainous districts and surrounding areas, alleviates the suffering of movement, and enhances the geographical and social cohesion between the governorates. The social figures called for giving priority to reason and wisdom, and looking at the interests of citizens away from any narrow calculations, stressing that the continued closure of the pass deprives thousands of people of easy movement and increases the isolation of the affected areas.
