Special/Aden Citizens in the capital, Aden, said on Tuesday that widespread oil pollution had occurred in a number of coasts west of the city, including the areas of Al-Buraqa, Al-Haswa, and the People's Coast, which raised concerns among the population. A number of beachgoers reported that dense black spots covered large areas of water, accompanied by pungent oil odors, in a scene they described as "terrifying," confirming that the pollution affected the sands of the beaches and caused the death of some small marine organisms, amid a complete absence of any response from the concerned authorities. Citizens called for the rapid intervention of environmental agencies and local authorities to assess the extent of the disaster and take immediate remedial measures, warning of catastrophic effects on the marine environment and the health of the population, especially with the rise in temperatures and the high turnout on the coasts in the summer season. It is worth noting that Aden has witnessed similar incidents of marine pollution in recent years, resulting from leaks from ships or waste from dilapidated facilities, without radical treatments, amid continuous warnings that the continuation of this neglect threatens marine and tourist life in the city.
