Arabian Sea - Yemen - Special: The Yemeni Peace Committee issued an official statement today, Thursday, July 31, 2025, expressing its deep regret over the killing of the young man "Mohammed Saeed Yadin" in Hadramout Governorate, and "Saqr Nasser bin Adyo" in Shabwa Governorate, amid escalating protests and security lapses in a number of southern governorates. In its statement, the committee called for urgent and transparent investigations, an end to the use of excessive force, and demanded the improvement of services and the enforcement of the rule of law, stressing that the solution in Yemen must stem from respect for rights and justice, not from tools of repression and neglect. The following is the text of the statement: The Yemeni Peace Committee expresses its deep sorrow and regret over the painful incidents witnessed by the governorates of Hadramout and Shabwa during the past days, which claimed the lives of innocent citizens, in light of the deteriorating security situation and the continued absence of radical solutions to the demands of citizens. First: The killing of the young man "Mohammed Saeed Yadin" - Hadramout The incident occurred while security forces were dispersing protesters in the city of Tarim, who were demanding improved basic services such as electricity and water. The young man "Yadin" was shot by a member of the security forces, and his death was later announced, sparking a widespread wave of public anger and demonstrations demanding that those responsible be held accountable. Second: The killing of "Saqr Nasser bin Adyo" - Shabwa The nephew of the former governor of Shabwa, "Mohammed bin Adyo," was killed by unknown gunmen in the middle of a popular market in Habban District. The incident comes in the context of the spread of chaos and the absence of security, amid increasing incidents of assassination and security lapses that the governorate is suffering from. The Yemeni Peace Committee, while strongly condemning the use of excessive force against peaceful demonstrators, denounces the continued incidents of extrajudicial killings. The committee calls for urgent and transparent investigations to uncover the circumstances of the two incidents and hold those involved accountable without delay. It calls on the government and central authorities to respond immediately to the demands of the people of Hadramout, foremost of which are: • Improving basic services (electricity, water, health, education). • Providing security and stability. The Yemeni Peace Committee also stresses the need to enforce the rule of law in Shabwa, disarm the militias, and pursue criminal elements. It calls on local and international human rights organizations to monitor the situation, protect civilians, and support the path of a just peace in Yemen. The Yemeni Peace Committee affirms that the solution is not through repression or exclusion, but through justice and a genuine response to the demands of the people, away from violence and neglect.
