Al Mahrah ((Arabian Sea)) Special: On Wednesday afternoon, local authorities in Al Mahrah Governorate officially released tribal Sheikh Mohammed Ahmed Al-Zaidi, after detaining him for several weeks on the background of issues that are still subject to legal follow-up. Local sources told the "Arabian Sea" newspaper that the release came after mediation efforts led by prominent tribal and social figures, which resulted in an agreement allowing Sheikh Al-Zaidi to leave Al Mahrah and go to the Sultanate of Oman for treatment, in exchange for one of his relatives remaining as a guarantee for his return to complete the legal procedures later. The sources added that the agreement stipulates the completion of the case file before the judiciary, where it will be decided according to the evidence and indications that are proven, noting that the release does not mean dropping the charges, but rather was done with conditional humanitarian arrangements, taking into account his health condition. The release of Sheikh Al-Zaidi comes after weeks of local tension in some areas of Al Mahrah, at a time when community efforts are being made to contain the crisis and enhance stability. Sources from the "Arabian Sea" confirmed that Al-Zaidi had already left on Wednesday afternoon heading towards the Sultanate of Oman via the Shahn land port, in the presence of a number of sheikhs and members of his tribe who accompanied him to the port.
