Yemen: Aden hosts the 8th Women's Summit under the auspices of the Existence for Human Security Foundation

The eighth Women's Summit, organized by the Existence for Human Security Foundation, chaired by Professor Maha Awad, with broad participation from women leaders, activists, and representatives of civil society organizations, along with youth from various Yemeni regions, will kick off tomorrow morning, Sunday, December 7, 2025, in Aden. The summit this year coincides with the international campaign "16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence," and will continue for two days (December 7 and 8). It is being held in an atmosphere that emphasizes the independence of the event, away from partisan alignments, and focuses on raising the voice of peace and empowering women in the public sphere from a rights-based and humanitarian perspective. Summit Themes: In its eighth edition, the summit will discuss a number of pressing issues, most notably: - The future of peace in Yemen and the efforts of the UN envoy. - The economics of peace and the role of the private sector in supporting stability. - Women's entrepreneurship and the women's movement in Yemen. - Transitional justice and ways to protect women from cyber violence. - The effects of climate change on women. - The role of local initiatives in promoting peace and community participation. The summit is expected to conclude with the issuance of the "Aden Declaration," which will include the most important recommendations and outcomes reached during the dialogue sessions and interactive discussions. The Goal of the Summit: According to the Existence Foundation, the summit aims to bring women, men, and community actors together around one table to exchange visions on common challenges and build alternative paths towards peace, coexistence, and stability in Yemen. The Foundation affirms that the eighth Women's Summit is an independent event that does not belong to any political component or current, but rather seeks to expand the space for women's participation and consolidate the voice of reason and peace in a time when challenges are sweeping the country.
