The western vineyards area surrounding the town of Beit Jinn in the western Damascus countryside witnessed a new incursion by Israeli army forces today, Saturday, in a notable escalation that has been repeated in recent days in the southern countryside of Syria. Local sources and a correspondent for the official Syrian News Agency "SANA" reported that the incursion was carried out by an Israeli military force consisting of 3 tanks and 5 vehicles, which moved towards the Bab al-Sadd junction and the tank company, on the road connecting the Beit Jinn farm and the villages of Hader, Jabaatha al-Khashab, and Trunjeh in the Quneitra countryside. According to witnesses, the Israeli forces fired shots into the air intermittently in an attempt to intimidate livestock herders and prevent them from approaching the area. They also set up a military checkpoint at the site and blocked the road to passersby. This comes less than 24 hours after a similar incursion in the towns of Saida al-Hanout, Bir Ajam, and Bureiqa in the southern Quneitra countryside, amid escalating security tensions, against the backdrop of recent Israeli raids targeting the town of Beit Jinn, which resulted in the death of 13 civilians and the injury of dozens, according to official Syrian reports. These movements are a violation of the 1974 "Disengagement Agreement," which regulates the presence of forces in the areas of contact between Syria and Israel. Damascus condemned the escalation, calling on the international community to intervene to stop the "repeated Israeli attacks," which it considers a violation of the sovereignty of Syrian territory.
