The Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, said on Saturday that the ongoing negotiations to stop the war in the Gaza Strip have entered a "critical stage," noting that regional and international mediators are working jointly to push the parties towards an agreement for a new phase of ceasefire. This came during his participation in a panel discussion within the activities of the Doha Forum, where he affirmed that his country, along with international partners, is making diligent efforts to prevent the collapse of the negotiation track, adding: "We are facing one of the most difficult stages in mediation, but it is still ongoing, and there is no room for despair." Sheikh Mohammed added that the main goal now is to "break the deadlock" and create the conditions for the return of the political track, stressing that the final solution must be based on ending the occupation and achieving the Palestinian state. His statements come amid intensified contacts between Qatar, Egypt, and the United States in an attempt to revive the truce agreement that collapsed a week after it came into effect last November, which included an exchange of prisoners and the introduction of limited humanitarian aid.
