The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the final statement issued by the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) at its 46th session, held in Manama under the chairmanship of the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, appreciating the firm and unwavering positions of the GCC countries towards the Palestinian issue and their standing against the Israeli aggression. The Ministry affirmed its appreciation for what was stated in the statement regarding the emphasis on the centrality of the Palestinian issue, the necessity of ending the Israeli occupation, and embodying the independent State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital, in a way that guarantees the Palestinian people their right to sovereignty over their land. It also praised the Gulf warnings against any plans aimed at undermining the inalienable Palestinian rights. The Palestinian Foreign Ministry clarified that the clear position of the GCC countries on Jerusalem, and their renewed call for the international community to intervene to stop the Israeli targeting of the Palestinian presence in the city, represent an important lever for international action in the face of continuous violations and attempts to impose so-called Israeli sovereignty over the holy city, in a blatant violation of international law and international legitimacy resolutions.
