The city of Seiyun witnessed complete calm this morning, Wednesday, after the cessation of clashes that erupted for hours following the entry of the Southern Transitional Council forces into the city and their complete control over it without any significant confrontations. Local sources reported that the Transitional Council forces seized the "Presidential Palace" in the city, after finding it empty of any military presence, as a result of the withdrawal of the "First Military Region" forces, which were deployed in a number of locations within the city. Following the takeover, the Transitional Council forces spread around the palace and neighboring sites, and began arranging security and establishing their points, at a time when the sounds of gunfire completely stopped. This development comes just hours after the seizure of the "37th Armored Brigade Camp," one of the largest camps in Wadi Hadramout, in the largest field move by the council since the start of the crisis in the governorate. Political and tribal circles in Hadramout are anticipating how things will turn out in the coming hours, amid calls for calm and avoiding any escalation that may affect security and stability in the governorate. With these developments, Al-Mahra has become the only southern governorate outside the control of the Transitional Council, which raises questions about the next stage in the map of military and political influence in southern Yemen.
