Large forces of the Israeli army re-stormed large areas of the city of Tubas and the town of Aqaba in the northern West Bank on Monday, less than 24 hours after withdrawing from the governorate, in a dangerous field development that threatens more tension in the region. The Tubas Governorate stated in a press release that the occupation forces imposed a curfew in the city and the town of Aqaba until further notice, noting that the operation comes after an aggression that lasted for four consecutive days, leaving widespread destruction of public and private property, in addition to hundreds of injuries and arrests. The statement added that the occupation forces re-stormed a number of houses and turned them into military barracks, while Israeli bulldozers began closing roads and cutting off the governorate, which prompted local authorities to disrupt the educational process and attendance in all institutions. In a related context, the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) quoted security sources as saying that the occupation forces stormed the town of Beit Fajjar, south of Bethlehem, and raided citizens' homes, where they detained about 40 citizens and interrogated them in the field before releasing them. The sources also added that four other citizens were detained in the town of Al-Ubaidiya, east of Bethlehem, after their homes were searched and they were interrogated. This escalation comes at a time when the West Bank has been witnessing escalating tension for weeks, with the expansion of the circle of Israeli arrests and raids, in light of the failure of international efforts to stop the escalation or curb repeated violations against civilian residents.
