Yemen: "Petromasila" Company Announces Complete Shutdown Due to Deteriorating Security Situation in Hadramout
Arabian Sea Newspaper - Special
Petromasila announced today, Monday, a complete halt to production and refining operations in Sector (14) since Saturday, November 29, 2025, due to the serious deterioration of the security situation in the vicinity of oil facilities in Hadramout Governorate. In an official statement, the company said that this decision came "out of concern for the safety of workers, facilities and the environment," stressing that the continuation of armed clashes near oil and gas fields and facilities may lead to disasters and massive losses that are difficult to contain. The statement explained that the company maintained the operation of the minimum operations in Sector (10) during the past days to secure the gas needed for the power plants in Wadi Hadramout and Al-Jazeera (with a capacity of 75 megawatts), but it was forced to stop operations on Sunday evening, November 30, after the crude oil tanks were filled and the security tension worsened. The statement indicated that the gradual shutdown of gas facilities and the Wadi Hadramout power plant was carried out as a result of the cessation of gas supplies, which caused power outages in wide areas. The company added that its technical and administrative staff "worked silently and tirelessly to serve citizens and the national economy," expressing its deep regret for the compelling security conditions that were imposed against its will and directly affected the lives of citizens in Wadi Hadramout. Petromasila concluded its statement by calling on the concerned authorities to "quickly establish security and stability in the governorate," warning that the continuation of these conditions may threaten the future of the vital energy sector in Yemen.
