Both the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, in simultaneous events marking the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, reaffirmed the justice of the Palestinian cause and the need to intensify international efforts to enable the Palestinian people to obtain their rights and establish their independent state. During an event hosted by the Arab League headquarters in Cairo, Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit stressed that the Palestinian national project "will not end" in light of the broad Arab support and increasing international support, stressing that the Israeli occupation is "doomed to disappear, no matter how brutal it becomes." Aboul Gheit pointed out that the Palestinian issue is going through a "very difficult" stage after two years of the war of extermination in Gaza, and the accompanying settlement escalation in the West Bank, which led to the martyrdom of more than a thousand Palestinians and the arrest of tens of thousands. He revealed that the number of countries recognizing the State of Palestine has risen to 157. In Jeddah, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation affirmed the international community's responsibility to support the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, warning of the "unprecedented aggression" committed by the occupation for two years. The Assistant Secretary-General for Palestine and Jerusalem Affairs, Ambassador Samir Bakr, called for a comprehensive cessation of the war, the withdrawal of the occupation forces, and the opening of crossings without restrictions, in addition to holding a donors' conference in Cairo to rebuild Gaza. He also warned of the escalating settler terrorism in the West Bank and Jerusalem with the aim of undermining the two-state solution. On the ground, dozens of settlers stormed the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque from the Mughrabi Gate under the protection of the occupation police, and carried out provocative tours and Talmudic rituals in the eastern region. In Qalqilya, occupation soldiers fired toxic gas bombs at Palestinian vehicles at the eastern entrance to the city, while a number of Palestinians suffered from suffocation during the occupation forces' storming of the village of Mikhmas, northeast of Jerusalem.
