Yemen participated today in the event held by the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, with a delegation headed by the Chargé d'Affaires of the Permanent Delegation, Dr. Ali Musa. During the event, the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, affirmed that the Palestinian issue is going through one of its most difficult turning points, pointing out that Security Council Resolution 2803 opens an important door to a serious political path that requires a comprehensive cessation of military operations, a complete withdrawal from Gaza, facilitating the delivery of aid, and launching the reconstruction process. Aboul Gheit pointed out that the occupation's crimes during the past two years have revealed the extent of the unprecedented violence to which the Palestinian people are exposed, stressing that their steadfastness is proof of the strength of their national identity. He also explained that the increasing recognition of the State of Palestine, which has reached 157 countries, reflects a clear international trend to support Palestinian rights and the establishment of an independent state. In his speech, the Permanent Representative of Palestine, Ambassador Muhannad Al-Aklouk, stressed that the Palestinian people are going through one of the most difficult periods in their history, as a result of the ongoing war on Gaza and the daily violations in the West Bank and Jerusalem. The program included a documentary presentation on the suffering of Palestinians under occupation, in addition to honoring Arab and international institutions that supported the steadfastness of the Palestinian people. The event also witnessed an art exhibition in which the Yemeni artist Afrah Al-Mirabi participated with a painting embodying the impact of the war on Palestinian children, which was well received by the attendees and visited by the Secretary-General.
