Yemen: US strike kills senior al-Qaeda leader in Marib

A Yemeni security source confirmed the killing of a prominent leader in al-Qaeda, Munir al-Ahdal, known as "Abu al-Haijaa al-Hudeidi," yesterday evening in a raid carried out by an American drone in Marib Governorate, east of the country. The source explained, in a statement to the "German Press Agency," that the plane targeted a motorcycle carrying al-Ahdal and his companion in the Al-Husun area of Wadi Abidah, which led to their immediate death. The source indicated that al-Ahdal is considered one of the most dangerous leaders of the organization and was involved in carrying out a large number of armed operations during the past years in several Yemeni governorates. No official statement has been issued by the Yemeni government or the American side regarding the raid so far.
