On Saturday evening, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al-Alimi, addressed a statement to the Yemeni people on the occasion of the 58th anniversary of Independence Day, calling for strengthening national unity, supporting state institutions, avoiding politicizing just causes, and working towards building a free, safe, just, and prosperous Yemen. Al-Alimi affirmed, in a statement issued in his name and on behalf of the members of the Council and the government, that the celebration of this national occasion comes as a culmination of a long struggle, an extension of the September 26 and October 14 revolutions, which united the struggles of Yemenis for freedom, justice, and human dignity. He pointed out that Yemen is going through a delicate stage in light of the attempts of the forces of tyranny supported by Iran to return the country to the square of darkness, stressing that the safe and stable future of Yemen is closer than ever thanks to the steadfastness of the Yemeni people and the courage of the armed forces, along with the support of the brothers in the Coalition to Support Legitimacy. Al-Alimi expressed his understanding of the demands of the people of the southern governorates and their just cause, stressing that the state leadership is addressing this issue in a responsible spirit, far from any exclusionary tendencies or political exploitation. He said that the people of the South were at the forefront of the makers of independence, and they remain today the cornerstone in making the future of the modern Yemeni state based on good governance, decentralization, and equal opportunities. The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council called on Yemenis to hold on to hope and joint action to overcome the challenges, and to enhance national participation in a responsible spirit, stressing that building the modern civil state requires concerted efforts of everyone without exception. In conclusion of his statement, Al-Alimi saluted the Yemeni people, calling for continued work for a stable Yemen that restores its role and natural position in its Gulf, Arab, and international surroundings.
