On the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, the Arab Republic of Egypt affirmed that the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, represents a historical entitlement supported by international legitimacy and protected by human conscience, and is not merely a political demand. The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in its statement issued today, Saturday, stressed the importance of consolidating the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid freely and without restrictions, in implementation of Security Council Resolution No. 2803 and in embodiment of the international consensus announced at the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Summit, in order to pave the way for launching a comprehensive political process that restores the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. Egypt reiterated that this occasion represents more than an annual commemoration; it is a milestone to restore the values of justice and renew the international moral and political commitment towards the rights of the Palestinian people.
