The Arab League commemorates "International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People" next Sunday.

The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States will organize an event next Sunday to mark the "International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People," with the participation of permanent representatives to the Arab League, members of foreign diplomatic missions accredited to Egypt, representatives of Arab and international organizations, and a group of public figures. In a statement today, the League said that this event comes in response to the United Nations General Assembly resolution issued in 1977 to commemorate this day annually, and to reaffirm the justice of the Palestinian cause and solidarity with the Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle to end the occupation, achieve freedom and independence, and establish their independent, sovereign state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative. The statement added that the event will include the delivery of political speeches of solidarity with the Palestinian people by the League of Arab States, the United Nations, the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the State of Palestine, in addition to speeches from Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and the Coptic Orthodox Church.
