Arab Sea Newspaper - Follow-ups:

UN Women in Yemen issued today the Qualitative Analysis Report for 2025, which monitors the impact of the ongoing conflict on women, men, girls, and boys in 12 Yemeni governorates. The report coincides with the launch of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign, which runs from November 25 to December 10. The agency's representative, Dina Zorba, said that the campaign and the report highlight the importance of evidence-based work to ensure that women are able to lead their communities and strengthen systems that support their participation in decision-making, as this is a fundamental pillar for the future of Yemen. The report is based on field surveys, focus group discussions, in-depth interviews, and safety assessments, and reveals the widening inequalities as a result of the ongoing conflict, with multiple obstacles facing women and girls, especially displaced women, in the areas of safety, access to basic services, livelihoods, and public participation. It also points to increased violence, deteriorating economic security, and increased marginalization of female-headed households and women with disabilities. The report highlights the vital role of local women's organizations that continue to provide essential services despite the challenges of funding shortages and social and movement restrictions, calling for strengthening protection systems, expanding economic opportunities for women, supporting their participation in decision-making, and improving equitable access to humanitarian, health, and educational services. It also stressed the importance of integrating the report's findings into the design of humanitarian and development programs to ensure gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls in Yemen.
