The water outage crisis in the temporary Yemeni capital, Aden, has worsened, turning into a daily nightmare that plagues citizens, amid the absence of radical solutions from the responsible authorities. The hours of water reaching homes are limited to late at night, which prompts residents to rely on alternative electric pumps amid frequent power outages. Local residents confirm that the crisis has worsened as a result of diverting water allocations from residential neighborhoods to commercial projects, in addition to frequent breakdowns and dilapidated networks, while the water corporation justifies this by increased demand, population pressure, and incorrect consumption behaviors. Experts believe that the lack of planning and dilapidated infrastructure, in addition to the absence of strategic projects such as desalination plants or network development, have contributed to complicating the crisis, calling for the adoption of solar energy and expanding partnership with international organizations to secure long-term solutions. Citizens confirm that the continuation of the situation as it is threatens to exacerbate the suffering, stressing that providing water is a basic right that should be at the top of the priorities of any authority that claims to represent citizens.
