The Minister of Information in the Port Sudan government, Khaled Al-Aysar, described the Rapid Support Forces' announcement of a humanitarian truce as a "transparent political maneuver," noting that this announcement contradicts the reality of serious crimes and violations committed by the militia against civilians. Al-Aysar said on Tuesday that the Rapid Support Forces committed "atrocities" against citizens, from starvation and drone bombings to burying people alive and hanging victims on trees, in cities such as El Fasher and Bara, stressing that talk of a truce cannot be considered sincere or serious. He added that the commander of the Rapid Support Forces is seeking, through this statement, to "deceive the international community and beautify an image tarnished by flagrant violations," calling on the world not to be drawn into misleading rhetoric, stressing that the Sudanese army has adhered to what was signed, while the militia exploited the truces to transport weapons and mercenaries and achieve military gains. Al-Aysar concluded by saying: "Those who commit massacres, besiege residents, and practice violations cannot make peace, nor can their promises be trusted."
