The second session of the investigation with prominent Adeni journalist Abdulrahman Anis began this morning at the Press and Publications Prosecution Office in Aden, following a complaint filed by the legal team of the Southern Transitional Council, accusing Anis of "public incitement." In a post on his personal page, Anis announced that he was heading to the Public Prosecution headquarters at nine in the morning to appear before the hearing dedicated to responding to what was stated in the supplementary annex to the complaint filed against him. Anis affirmed his full respect for the law and judicial institutions, expressing his confidence that justice will vindicate responsible speech, stressing that "clarity of position remains stronger than any claim." This case comes in the context of escalating controversy over freedom of the press and expression in southern Yemen, amid concerns from media and human rights circles about increasing pressure on journalists because of their opinions or critical writings. It is noteworthy that Abdulrahman Anis is one of the most prominent journalistic voices in Aden, and has a long professional history in media work, and is known for his bold stances and sharp criticisms of a number of public issues.
