Today, the city of Mukalla witnessed an expanded meeting between the Governor of Hadramout, Mabkhout bin Madhi, and the German Ambassador to Yemen, Thomas Schneider, in a visit that reflects the growing international presence in the governorate as one of the most stable regions in the country and a promising environment for implementing development projects. During the meeting, which was attended by a high-level delegation from the German Embassy and representatives of the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the German Development Bank (KfW), the possibility of developing the framework of cooperation between the two sides and moving it towards a more effective development partnership was reviewed, focusing on supporting economic recovery and improving the efficiency of local institutions. The two sides discussed ways to expand German programs in Hadramout, especially with regard to the rehabilitation of government cadres, building institutional capacities, and enhancing the presence of women in decision-making positions, in addition to launching initiatives that support the local community in facing current economic challenges and transforming them into sustainable development opportunities. The meeting touched on the post-humanitarian action phase and entering a path that relies on sustainable development projects targeting priority sectors in the lives of citizens, including water, sanitation, energy, agriculture, health, and fisheries, as sectors capable of driving growth and improving the level of services. In this context, Governor bin Madhi affirmed that the German Ambassador's visit carries a "message of confidence" in Hadramout's ability to absorb international investments, pointing out that the security stability enjoyed by the governorate was the most prominent factor in the success of the development projects that were implemented during the past period. He also reviewed the broad outlines of the development plan for the period 2025-2029, which aims to modernize the administrative structure and develop sustainable solutions for the service sectors. For his part, Ambassador Thomas Schneider expressed his country's appreciation for the improvement and stability he sees in Hadramout, stressing that Germany is "committed to supporting sustainable development efforts in Yemen and is ready to direct its interventions in line with the priorities of the local authority and its future plans." This visit coincides with efforts by the local authorities in Hadramout to attract more international partnerships and donors, as part of efforts to promote development and compensate for the years of economic challenges that the governorate and the country as a whole have gone through.
