The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate expressed its strong condemnation of the inciting speech published by Sheikh Abdullah al-Adaini on his Facebook page, targeting the broadcaster on Al-Jumhuriya channel, Ahed Yassin, and the offensive language and explicit calls for hatred it contained. In a statement, the syndicate affirmed that al-Adaini's speech represents systematic incitement against female journalists and media professionals under a religious guise, and constitutes a direct threat to their safety and their right to work freely and safely. The syndicate called on the competent authorities to open an immediate investigation into the incident, take the necessary legal measures to stop the speech of incitement and defamation, and put an end to any media targeting that may expose journalists to additional risks. The syndicate pointed out that female media workers, especially in television channels, have been subjected to a series of attacks and incitement in the recent period, considering this a dangerous indication of the increasing deterioration in the media environment in the country. The Journalists Syndicate held the concerned authorities fully responsible for any harm or assault that may result from this type of speech, renewing its call to protect journalists and ensure a safe media environment that respects freedom of expression.
