The UK Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa, Hamish Falconer, affirmed his country's renewed commitment to working towards achieving peace and establishing sustainable prosperity in Yemen, and strengthening the security and stability of the region and the world. In a statement, Falconer said that his recent visit to Yemen reflects the UK's position as one of Yemen's most important international partners, noting that Britain has provided support exceeding £1.5 billion over the past decade, and has committed this year to providing £149 million in humanitarian and development aid. The British Minister added that his visit to Aden clearly demonstrated the strength and continuity of the partnership between the United Kingdom, the Yemeni government, and the Yemeni people, stressing that he witnessed firsthand the positive impact of British support in improving the lives of Yemenis and enhancing their ability to face challenges.
