Yemen: Southern Transitional Council confirms that previous terms of reference are no longer valid and calls for a new negotiating framework.

The Southern Transitional Council (STC) said on Saturday that any political settlement in Yemen cannot be limited to the Gulf Initiative or the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference, considering that these references are "no longer valid for a solution" after the changes imposed by the years of war, especially in the southern governorates. The Council's position came after a statement by the UN Security Council, which affirmed that there is no military solution to the Yemeni crisis, and called for the resumption of peace negotiations based on the Gulf Initiative and the outcomes of the National Dialogue. The head of the STC's political body and head of the Negotiations Affairs Unit, Nasser Al-Khabji, affirmed in a post on the "X" platform that addressing the roots of the crisis requires recognizing the issue of the South as "an entry point for any successful political transition," stressing that the old references "do not provide fair solutions" and do not reflect "the realities of the new reality."
